How Professional is Your Professional?

The stories you are about to read are in reference to "wedding professionals" who are not members of the Loveland Wedding Professionals.

One of our members recently participated at a wedding in another town at a country club.  She was surprised at the attire worn by the country club wedding coordinator.  The coordinator was wearing a tank top with bra straps showing and very short shorts.  This was at a very elegant wedding with fine linens and chair covers with bows.  The coordinator's attire did not fit the formality of the occasion or location.

Drop the Receiving Line?

A poll was done in late May 2009 by the Associated Press and Brides magazine.  They asked a random cross section of people what they did and didn't like about weddings.  The poll has a +/- 3% error margin.

So brides if you are tight on time and need to know what is important to your guests and what is not, now you have an answer.  60% said they liked watching the ceremony a lot.   Only 23% said they liked the receiving line.  Here are the results:

Activity                                              Liked a lot          Liked a little          Didn't like at all

Watching the ceremony                         60                         31                               9

Music and Dancing at the reception        56                         31                             12

Food at the reception                             52                        40                               8

Seeing the bride's gown                         47                         33                              19

Toasts & Speeches at reception             40                         43                             17

Cutting of the wedding cake                   37                         43                             20

Throwing of Garter                                24                          38                             37

Receiving Line                                      23                           43                             32

Floral Centerpieces and What to do with Them
Written by Diana McKinney

I have often suggested that when thinking about your centerpieces you should consider height and how it affects conversation.  You know they say one picture is worth a thousand words so here is the picture.  Imagine trying to carry on a conversation with the two women on the other side of the tulips in this photo:

Centerpieces - what to do with them.

Another thing to think about is what will happen to your centerpieces when the reception is over.  You may wish to give the flowers to some of your guests.  Your DJ can help you by making announcements or even playing a quick game with the guests so that one person at each table is “the winner” of the centerpiece.

Choosing an Officiant
Written by Manon Weber

A wedding officiant can make or break your ceremony. An uncaring or unprofessional officiant can sometimes spoil the whole day. Even so, when it comes to finding an officiant, most couples simply focus on two things:
– Are you available on our date?
– How much is your fee?

So, if I may, I would like to suggest an approach to choosing an officiant.

Hiring a Disc Jockey

Hiring a Disc Jockey (DJ) should be really easy. After all they just set up a boom box for four hours and play music, right? Oh, if only it were that simple.
